Kobe studied at Lower Merion High School in Pennsylvania. There he was recognised as the top high-school Basketball player in the country. Although Bryant had good grades and high SAT scores, he decided to go straight to the NBA from high school. He was selected by the Charlotte Hornets with the 13th overall pick of 1996 NBA draft and was subsequently given to the Los Angeles Lakers.
